Richard Dean “Doc” Tuckerobit

Richard Dean “Doc” Tucker, Okmulgee, formerly of Ada and Meeker, Oklahoma, died on September 14, 2016, just a week prior to his 76th birthday. Dr. Tucker was born on September 22, 1940, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Katherine Burson and Carver Hearn
Tucker.

He attended grade and secondary schools in Fayette, Alabama, college at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama, and completed his degree in Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama, in 1967. An exemplary student, he was awarded the Upjohn Award for Proficiency in Large Animal Medicine. Moving to
Oklahoma, he became a partner in the Ada Veterinary Clinic, where he remained until he established the Ada Equine Clinic. Widely recognized in the horse industry for his veterinary skills, Dr. Tucker worked both private horse farms and at Remington Racetrack. Retiring to Meeker, he pursued his dream of establishing a vineyard and produced quality grapes for Oklahoma wineries. He was a member of the Oklahoma Grape Growers Association, the Oklahoma and American Equine Associations, and the Oklahoma and American Veterinary Medicine Associations.

Dr. Tucker is survived by three children, Dean Tucker and wife, Julie of Richland, Oregon; Beth Walker of Vanoss, Oklahoma; Dona-Karel Doffin and husband, Randy, of Vanoss, Oklahoma, his sister, Lorraine Whitley, of Fayette, Alabama, and best friend and long-time companion, Joyce Bradford of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; six grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. A Celebration of Life is pending.

John William Hale obit

John William Hale, resident of Okmulgee, passed away in Tulsa on Monday morning, September 12, 2016. He was born on June 6, 1929 in Sterling, Oklahoma to the late John Wesley and Myrtle Hale. John married Leona Combs in 1950 in Chowchilla, California where he worked as a farmer and rancher until 1963 when he and Leona moved to Hanna, Oklahoma. There he farmed watermelons and peanuts, and ran quarter horses and cattle. John was also a partner at Hale Fence Company. He was a hard worker, and passionate about what he did. He was a long-time member of the Assembly of God Church.

John is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, "Sis" Hale, and brothers, Don Hale, Raymond Hale, Cletus Hale, J.D. Hale, Benny Hale and Leroy Hale.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 66 years, Leona Hale, of the home, son Jerry Hale and wife Sondra of Okmulgee, daughter Vickie Peters and husband Edward of Eufaula, son Keith Hale and wife Valerie of Okmulgee, grandchildren Jason Peters, Jared Hale, Aimee Mason, Damian Kelley, Cameron Smith, Alexandra Smith, and Hailey Smith, great-grandchildren Trenton, Haiden, Parker, Ethan, Emma, Preston, Ava, Payton K., Payton H., and Gentry, along with his sister Jeanette Semore, and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for John will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 16, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Okmulgee, with Reverend Marcus Alexander and Reverend Jack Vance officiating. Serving as casketbearers will be George Mouser, Shorty Wood, Gary Gray, Willie Anderson, Bart Bailey, and Joe Madalone. Friends may visit the funeral home on Thursday, September 15, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family receiving guests from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

Dina A. (Akins) Thompson, a resident of Henryetta passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016 in Tulsa at the age of 59.  She worked for many years as a radiographer and was a member of the IUOE Local 112 as well as the American Legion Ladies Auxilary.  She is preceded in death by her husband Freddie Thompson, Jr. and her mother, Fenecia Akins.  Services are pending with Integrity Funeral Service.

Roy L. Johnson (Jody) obit

Roy L. Johnson (Jody) was born June 13, 1920 in rural Okmulgee County, south of Morris to the late John W. Johnson and Amanda L. (Baker) Johnson. He was the eighth of nine children.
Jody passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 in Tulsa at 96 years of age.

He is survived by his four children, Ann Smith, Diana Raney, Mike Johnson, and Sue Lucas, eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and five great, great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Goddard Johnson, a daughter, Pamela Williams, two granddaughters, Rebecca Smith and Stephanie Acker and his first wife and mother of his children, Pauline Marie Ballard. Also, all of his siblings, Ethel, Irene, Alice Loague, Elmer and Denver Johnson, Carrie Casto, Marie and "J.W" preceded him in death.
Jody attended school in Morris and Prairie Bell. In 1937 he served in CCC with his uncle James Franklin Johnson. Together they helped build Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado. He served in the US Army from January 1942 to December 31, 1945 in the 10th Armed Division serving in Belgium, France, Germany and saw combat in the Battle of Bulge. He also served a brief time in Philippians. Upon returning from the war, Jody worked at White Hill Oil Company for twenty years, and later was a carpenter for thirty years. He enjoyed time spent around the pond at Claremore Veterans Center and feeding the geese and turtles. He loved telling stories about his military days. Jody was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Okmulgee, Okmulgee Round Up Club and Square Dance Club.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 9, 2016 at the First Assembly of God Church in Okmulgee. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Seth Gillenwater, Nathan Gillenwater, Cannon Gillenwater, Gage Gaskins, Michael Burrell and Abbas Abdul Hussein. Friends may visit the funeral home Thursday from 12:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M. Arrangements have been entrusted to McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

June Elizabeth Matthews

June Elizabeth Matthews, a resident of Henryetta passed away Saturday, September 3, 2016 in Henryetta at the age of 87.  She was born September 9, 1928 in Henryetta to Samuel Daniel Hammack and Pearl Elizabeth (Nation) Hammack.

She was a graduate of Okmulgee High School and attended college in San Antonio, Texas. She married Garland Huffman on June 21, 1958 in Lincoln, Nebraska.  After his death in 1973, she married Deroy Matthews on June 17, 1975 in Henryetta. She worked for David Wilemon Oil Co. as secretary for 15 years, retiring in 1990.

She had resided in Lincoln, Nebraska for 15 years, Dewar, Oklahoma for 2 years and in rural Henryetta for 25 years before moving to Crystal Springs Retirement Center until Deroy's death.

She was a longtime member of the Dewar United Pentecostal Church where she was a faithful servant working as Sunday School Secretary for many years as well as other various capacities.  June's main love and goal in life was living for the Lord and sharing his love and Gospel with everyone she met.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel & Pearl Hammack, her first husband, Garland Huffman, her second husband, Deroy Matthews, brothers, Johnny Hammack, Guy Hammack & wife Lucille, sisters, Ethel Ann Shew & husband Bill, Willene Crossland & husband Al.

She is survived by four stepsons:
Joe Huffman, Sr. & wife Deloris of Lincoln, Nebraska;
Jack Matthews & wife Nelda of Ada, Oklahoma;
Donald Matthews & wife Pam of Henryetta;
Tommy Matthews, Sr. & wife Evie of Woodward, Oklahoma;
Grandchildren: Annette Huffman Evans & husband Stuart, Joey Huffman, Matthew Huffman, Justin Matthews, Nathan Matthews, Curtis Matthews, Brooke Matthews, Tommy Matthews, Jr., & Alex Matthews.  Also by several great grandchildren.
A sister, Ruby Isaksson & husband Egon of Hope, British Columbia, Canada;
A sister-in-law, Margaret Hammack of Dewar.
As well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and her beloved church family.

Viewing will be Tuesday, September 8, 2016 from 2-8pm at Integrity Funeral Service.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2016 at Dewar United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Matthew Martin, Rev. Gregg Joki & Rev. Joe Huffman, Sr., officiating.  Interment will follow in New Sonora Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.

Trudy Marie (Hulse) Barnett obit

Trudy Marie (Hulse) Barnett passed from this life on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 in Tulsa at the age of 56. Trudy was born on April 9, 1960 in Danbury, Connecticut to Earl Kendall Hulse, Jr. and Gertrude Lucy Schirmer Hulse.

At approximately three years old, Trudy moved from Connecticut with her family to Oklahoma. She grew up in the Henryetta area and attended Henryetta Public Schools. Trudy was a loving daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother and she will be missed by her family and friends. She liked to cook, work puzzle books, build puzzles, and to play card games. Trudy worked for approximately five years for J&R Decoy as a decoy painter. She was a longtime member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Henryetta.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father; and by her former fiance' Billy Skinner.

Trudy is survived by a daughter, Jessica Colwill and husband Robin of Midwest City; a son, Jonathan Barnett of Henryetta; by four brothers, Albert Hulse and wife Amanda of Morris, OK, Earl Hulse and wife Lind of Wilson, Joe Hulse of Henryetta, Paul Hulse and wife Janie of Henryetta; a sister-in-law, Kathy Skinner of Henryetta; and by six grandchildren, Christopher Cunningham, Jonathan Barnett, Champaine Barnett, Adrian Skinner, Malachi Walker, and Nathaniel; by other extended family and many good friends.

Viewing for Trudy will be held on Friday, August 26, 2016 from noon until 5:00pm at Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 10:00am at Salt Creek Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.

Pallbearers will be Albert Hulse, Earl Hulse, Joe Hulse, Paul Hulse, Jonathan Barnett, and Christopher Cunningham.
